World Championship MTB UCI 2015

The season of the XXVI World Mountain Biking Championship was concluded at Vallnord-La Massana (Andorra) station at the Pyrenees between Spain and France from 1 September to 6 September 2015, under the organization of the Cycling Union International (UCI) and the Cycling Union of Andorra.

The cyclists competed in 5 different disciplines, which awarded a total of 10 world champion titles. The competitions were held at the Bike Park Vallnord, Pal sector, the following facilities:

  • Descent (DH) – descent track between La Caubella and La Massana
  • Cross country (XC) – circuit in the mountain Pla de la Cot
  • Cross-country by elimination (XCE) – circuit in the mountain La Caubella
  • Cross-country by relay (XCR) – circuit in the mountain Pla de la Cot
  • Trials (TRI) – La Massana

The occasion is special for the bicycle industry, and how could it be otherwise, TransSport was there tightening relationships with different entities. It’s a good opportunity for manufacturers to exhibit to the specialized press products that will not reach the public until almost a year.

One of the tests that the various components of the bicycle squeeze the limits is the Descent, and played in the Andorran tracks of Vallnord in 2015, left us two new ‘champions’ of DH. Rachel Atherton‘s victory has put the finishing touch to a season full of success for the British rider, becoming the fastest woman on a mountain bike after winning the Cup and World Championship.

In the men’s category, Loic Bruni secured his first victory in the Elite category by wearing the champion jersey of the world, taking advantage of a disastrous fall of Aaron Gwin to climb to the top of the podium.
